Scholarship Criteria

The Foundation is proud to announce a scholarship for the 2022-23 school year of $15,000 dollars. The North Star Scholarship aims to incentivize the opportunity of higher education and preparation for Latin American women in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). The applicant must have the following qualifications to apply for a scholarship: To be a person of the female gender, between the age of 25 and 30 years,  either accepted to or currently undertaking a Masters's degree program in the area of STEM at an accredited college or university in the United States.


Applications will be accepted through May 15th, 2022, with the Scholarship Committee communicating its decision by June 10th.  Applicants must submit a detailed description of their reasons for applying to the scholarship, including their future plans once their Master’s program is concluded. Please provide proof of acceptance or enrollment to said University.  Submission of your application based on the published criteria  must be sent to

Selection Criteria

Once candidates have applied, the EFAI scholarship selection committee will take into consideration the following factors:


  • Scholastic ability

  • Evidence of leadership and involvement

  • Service to community and school

  • Outstanding character

  • Participation in extracurricular activities


Anyone or a combination of the following may be required: 

  • Personal interview. 

  • Letter(s) of reference. 

  • Character evaluation form. 

  • Student essay.
